Great nin costumes in TSUNAMI WARRIOR

The aquatic Thai fantasy epic known as Legend of the Tsunami Warrior in many English-speaking markets is predominantly Pirates of the Carribean / Lord of the Rings fare, but there’s a surprise ninja scene in the middle of it with some even more surprisingly good costumes.

The movie’s inferior and frenetically shot fight scenes don’t lend themselves to good screen caps alas. The pack of assassins, all in various forms of flexible light armor, is led by a masked ‘boss’ in an absolutely phenomenal layered armor suit. Too bad they didn’t spend the same detail on the martial arts. None of the stunt players know how to hold a Japanese sword, never mind fight with any degree of credible budo.

Apart from this scene, there are some neat CG sequences and great costumes throughout, but overall the film is character-bloated, long, hard to follow – but it is a serious fantasy epic and some major cash was output. Deserves more exposure than it’s gotten…
